BACOLOD City – A man was hacked dead while his younger brother was injured at Barangay Bantayan, Kabankalan City, Negros Occidental last Sunday.

Killed was Anthony Ventorillo, 34, of the said village. His brother Marlon, 29, also of the same barangay was injured.

Police Lieutenant Jomel Salarda, deputy police chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the Ventorillo brothers went to the house of the uncle of the suspect Anjun Alcantara, 38.

Salarda said Anthony looked for Alcantara’s uncle, but the latter was not at their house thus the suspect faced him.

A heated argument ensued, prompting Alcantara to allegedly hack Anthony with a bolo.

Anthony suffered multiple hack wounds and was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Marlon witnessed the incident and tried to pacify them but he was reportedly mauled by some neighbors of the suspect.

Salarda said Alcantara is at large and will be charged for murder.

Anthony and the suspect had no previous misunderstandings.

“Nag baisay lang sila, naka inom na abi, na impito man siguro ang suspect,” Salarda added.
