BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed while another was injured after they were stabbed and hacked by their neighbor at Sitio Buyog, Barangay Nabulao, Sipalay City, Negros Occidental last Tuesday.
The fatalities were identified as Percy Lugay, 36; and Robert Gabonada, 34. Wounded was Gabonada’s father Rudy, 64.
Police Major James Latayon, city police chief, said the suspect identified as 55-year-old Douglas Gaboya allegedly attacked the victims with a bolo for still unknown reasons.
Lugay was watching television at the house of Mary Ann Labanes, when Gaboya suddenly entered the house and hacked the victim on his neck and shoulder.
Latayon said that Gaboya then went to the house of Rudy and stabbed Robert in the chest.
The suspect also stabbed and hacked Rudy on his body and face.
Lugay and Robert were declared dead on arrival at a hospital, while Rudy is now stable and still confined in the hospital.
Gaboya fled bringing with him the weapon he used. But he was arrested the following day in Hinoba-an town through the help of his family, Latayon said.
Latayon said they have not determined the motive as the suspect refused to speak to them.
“Wala man record na nag away sila or kontrahanay na sila,” the police chief added.
Latayon said the suspect will be facing frustrated murder and two counts of murder.
