Five Guimarasnon overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and two dependents of an OFW received reintegration and scholarship grants on June 8, 2021.
The awarding ceremony was conducted by the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) Regional Welfare Office-6 in partnership with the Provincial Government of Guimaras and Provincial Employment Services Office (PESO) is in line with the celebration of Migrant Workers’ Day.
OWWA Western Visayas Program Supervising Division Officer-in-Charge Sarah P. Togonon personally handed over the check to the seven beneficiaries at the Provincial Capitol Food Court in San Miguel, Jordan, Guimaras.
Five OFWs were awarded with financial assistance amounting to Php 20,000.00 under the Balik-Pinas, Balik Hanapbuhay Program of OWWA.
Two of the beneficiaries came from San Lorenzo town, one from Buenavista, one from Jordan and one from Nueva Valencia.
One OFW dependent from the Municipality of Buenavista was awarded with Educational Assistance amounting to Php 10,000.00 through the OWWA’s Scholarship in Emergencies (Project EASE) for S.Y. 2020-2021 while another OFW dependent from Jordan town was awarded with ELAP educational assistance for High School S.Y. 2020-2021 amounting to Php 8,000.00.
“Kabay nga ini nga financial assistance nga ihatag sang OWWA in line sa pagselebrar sang Migrant Workers’ Day, makabulig ini sa aton especially subong, sa ti-on sang pandemic” Togonon said.
Governor Samuel T. Gumarin expressed his gratitude to the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and received the Plaque of Recognition.

We offer you sang isa ka alternative nga samtang ari pa kamo diri, wala pa kamo kabalik bangud may mga strict guidelines sa aton travel maghalin diri pakadto sa iban nga pungsod, nga testingan ninyo ang aton nga TESDA kag ano pa nga mga skills nga gusto ninyo, nga mahimo ninyo. gamiton nga inyo livelihood samtang ari kamo diri. You are welcome nga magpasakop, just give the signal kay Maam Elena Quezon kay ipaabot niya ina sa OWWA kag sa aton nga DOLE, kay Sir Richie” Gumarin said in his message during the awarding ceremony.
Also present during the event were Ms. Elena Quezon, Provincial Economic and Development Officer; Richie G. Buyco, OIC-Head, DOLE Guimaras Province; and Ms. Jean Jover, Family Welfare Officer, OWWA Region 6.
