9 hurt as pick-up truck plows into van terminal

ROXAS CITY, Capiz— Nine persons were hurt after an Isuzu D-Max pick-up truck plowed into an L300 van terminal Tuesday evening at Poblacion Ilawod in Pontevedra, Capiz.

Police identified the victims as Jesus Bajador, 47, and Ginacyl Daria, 42, both of Poblacion Ilaya, Pontevedra; live-in partners Kristine Grace Harion, 36, and Johnny Borres, 42, both of Barangay Talasa, Panay; Robert Dominic Bulquerin, 23, April Rose Bechayda, 24,  and Harry Delo, 29,  both of Poblacion Ilawod, Pontevedra.

Also hurt were Allan Gonzales, 18, and Jaymark Allarva, 24, both of Barangay Baybay, Roxas City.

Gonzales and Allarva were the passengers of Isuzu D-Max driver Raffy Barrera, 29, of Barangay Rizal, Pontevedra, Capiz.

Police Corporal Isaiah Don Bornales, Pontevedra Municipal Police Station investigator, said Barrera was about to turn right towards the Pontevedra public market when it suddenly lurched into Arangkada Terminal, an L300 van terminal along the road.

The victims were immediately taken to Bailan District Hospital and other hospitals here by the town’s emergency response team and bystanders.

The victims are in stable condition.

Barrera was allegedly drunk when the incident happened. He is presently detained at the police station.

Margelyn Torriani of Barangay Baybay, Roxas City is the registered owner of the pick-up truck.
