Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW) and Metro Iloilo Bulk Water Supply (MIB), subsidiaries of the Metro Pacific Water Group, provided COVID-19 relief to the Ilonggo community during the Modified Enhance Community Quarantine (MECQ) through the provision of goods and necessities.
The initiative is in line with MPIW’s corporate social responsibility flagship project – TATAP Ilonggo, which aims to safeguard communities in Metro Iloilo and neighboring municipalities through water, sanitation, and hygiene-related programs. Donated goods were turned over by MPIW’s Commercial Division Head, Mr. John Cañonero, and Mr. Felipe Ganancial, representative of MIB.
A total of eleven (11) sacks of rice, twenty-one (21) boxes of canned goods, nine (9) boxes of noodles, and (4) boxes of toiletries were turned over last Monday, 14 June 2021 in Jaro Plaza. This is on top of the (20) handwashing facilities installed by the MPIW team in various public centers, schools, and LGUs.
The relief goods were received by the Office of Iloilo City Mayor Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
“MPIW has the unwavering will to support our partner stakeholders and the Ilonggo community in the middle of this challenging time. Rest assured that we are ready to support the community in our best capacity,” Cañonero added.
Numerous families in Iloilo City have been greatly affected by the economic impact brought about by the pandemic and surge of COVID-19 cases in the past weeks. “MPIW and MIB show their care to the Iloilo City community by providing these goods. They are not only water utility companies but partners of local government as well,” according to Mr. Randy Pastolero from the Office of Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
MPIW will continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of its consumers in the fight against COVID-19 through its corporate sustainability and disaster relief efforts.
