BACOLOD City – Jealousy with his wife’s relatives triggered a man to shoot her dead inside their house at Barangay San Isidro, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Police identified the victim as Sendy Ambasing, 28.
Police Major Roberto Indiape Jr., town police chief, said Sendy and her two male kids aged 10 and 11 were already sleeping in their bedroom when her husband Alex Ambasing, 32, arrived around 11:30 p.m. and confronted her.
“Nag baisay sila tapos gin sakit niya ni daw ang iya wife, according sa mga kabataan nila,” Indiape said.
When the woman tried to get up from the bed, the suspect allegedly shot her at close range in full view of their children, Indiape said.
Alex fled while Sendy succumbed to a lone gunshot wound in the chest.
Indiape said they have no idea if the couple had previous misunderstandings or arguments.
He said the suspect was initially jealous of his wife’s relatives for an unknown reason.
The suspect, who is a motorcycle-for-hire (habal-habal) driver is still at large.
