ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Police launched a manhunt operation against a man who allegedly hacked dead his 16-year-old stepdaughter and seriously wounded his live-in partner Sunday evening at Brgy. Mianay Sigma, Capiz.
Police Lt. Rey Jason Gemino, Sigma police chief, identified the suspect as Gerald dela Cruz, 39, who is nowhere to be found after he attacked with a bolo his live-in partner Delia Avelino-Alvarez, 59, and stepdaughter Jedee, 16.
The incident happened when dela Cruz, who was drunk, and Alvarez figured in an argument 7 pm Sunday.
Jedee later took her six-month old infant outside of the house and left the child beside the fence if the heated exchange went out of hand.
She returned to the house to rescue her mother. But the bolo-wielding suspect followed them.
The victims were about 50 meters away from the house when dela Cruz caught up and hacked them with the bolo.
Both Delia and Jedee suffered hack wounds on their heads, hands, and bodies, but the latter died at the hospital.
Dela Cruz hurriedly left towards Sitio Alipangon in Brgy. Malapad Cogon also in Sigma while the victims were taken to the hospital in Roxas City by neighbors.
Dalia remains in critical condition in a hospital here.
Jedee’s child is now in the care of her relatives in Ivisan town.
