BACOLOD City – A father and his son were arrested at Barangay Gargato, Hinigaran, Negros Occidental last Saturday after they tried to evade authorities who initially caught them for alleged illegal fishing in Pontevedra town early that day.

Police identified the suspects as Panfilo Jordan, 47, and July Jordan, both residents of Pontevedra town.

Police Major Jake Barila, town police chief, said they received a call for assistance from members of Bantay Dagat in Pontevedra to conduct pursuit operation against two fishermen who evaded them.

Later that day, Hinigaran police apprehended the suspects and recovered from them a homemade Llama .9mm-caliber pistol, three live ammunition, a magazine, a homemade .38-caliber revolver, and three live special ammunition.

Barila said the suspects were probably carrying firearms as their weapons whenever they need to evade authorities.

“Basi guro kung madakpan sila, gapalupok sila,” he added.

Both suspects are detained at Hinigaran Municipal Police Station.
