ROXAS CITY, Capiz— A 55-year-old caretaker of a slaughterhouse was arrested by police for allegedly possessing unlicensed firearm and ammunition Saturday afternoon at Brgy. Sinabsaban, Cuartero, Capiz.
John Diaz Distor of Brgy. Tapulang, Maayon, Capiz did not resist when members of the barangay tanod collared him.
According to Police Staff Sgt. Edmer Dayal, Cuartero Municipal Police Station investigator, Distor was chanced by tanods Dantes Canto and Anthony Dichosa at the house of Barangay Kagawad (council member) Domingo Bermudo Jr., who was looking for Punong Barangay Ernie Dichosa Sr.
The tanods immediately approached the suspect and took from his possession a .9mm caliber pistol, a magazine, 12 live ammunition of the same caliber and a holster inside a sling bag.
The suspect is presently detained at the Cuartero police station for failure to present valid gun licenses.
Meanwhile, a construction worker wanted for murder in Capiz was nabbed by police Saturday at Bangladesh St., South 1, San Marino, Brgy. Salawag, in City of Dasmariñas, Cavite.
Arrested was Renan Deocampo Villanueva, 35, and a native of Brgy. Bailan, Pontevedra, Capiz.
Members of the Pontevedra PNP, Capiz Provincial Mobile Force Company in coordination with Cavite police captured Villanueva.
The warrant for his arrest was issued by Roxas City Regional Trial Court Judge Kristine B. Tiangco-Vinculado on March 15, 2016.
The suspect is presently detained at Dasmarinas police and will be turned over to the RTC soon.
