ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The family of a tanod (village watchmen) chief who was shot dead last week at Brgy. Poblacion Ilawod, Panay, Capiz are no longer interested to file charges against the still unidentified gunmen.

Police Lt. Francisco Umiten, Panay Municipal Police Station chief, said Jonalyn Bofill, wife of victim Charles Bofill, went to his office and informed them that she will no longer file charges against her husband’s killers.

Umiten said the family wanted to evade more trouble and headaches.

“I leave this problem with the Lord as we don’t want it to happen again,” Jonalyn said, as quoted by Umiten.

The wife eyed land dispute as the motive for the incident.

Charles Bofill, 43, was shot dead by two unidentified persons evening of July 7, 2021 inside his carwash shop at Brgy. Poblacion Ilawod.

Bofill was declared dead on arrival by the attending physician at St. Anthony College Hospital here.
