BACOLOD City – A personnel of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office (Nocppo) here was relieved after recent reports came out allegedly linking her to illegal gambling in Hinigaran town over the weekend.

Although the information has yet to be confirmed, Police Lieutenant Abegael Donasco, Nocppo’s information officer, said that Police Colonel Romy Palgue, Nocppo director already called the attention of the policewoman for an investigation.

Donasco said the policewoman was immediately relieved from the Office of the Provincial Director so as not to influence the investigation.

The cop was linked to gambling after the 2nd company of the Negros Occidental Provincial Public Safety and Company conducted an operation against illegal gambling in Barangay Quiwi last Sunday.

“For now, verify pa namin ba’t napasama siya,” Donasco said, adding that they are also looking for the organizer of the gambling activity.

Donasco said it is not yet clear how the policewoman’s name was dragged.

But she assured that Nocppo will really look into the matter.

“We need to know the whole thing kaya iniimbestigahan siya,” she said.

Meanwhile, Donasco reminded policemen to never get involved in any illegal activity.

“Even if proven or not, this will serve as a lesson to the police force because situations like this, may it be big or small, could be a big issue,” she said.
