BACOLOD City – Police are looking into drug-related matters or “something personal” as possible motives in the killing of a former village watchman and his adopted son in Barangay Vista Alegre here last Tuesday.
Police Captain Elmer Bonilla, head of Police Station 7, said they linked the killing to illegal drugs after they learned that a person of interest in the crime is an alleged drug personality.
Bonilla also said that the house of victim Aurelio Rull, 73, was raided by police twice for illegal drugs.
Empty plastic sachets were also seen at the back of the victim’s house when police investigated the area after the incident.
But Bonilla noted that Rull had no record with the police.
Rull and his nine-year-old adopted son were stabbed dead by an unidentified suspect inside their house early Tuesday.
The kid, who is the son of Rull’s neighbor, lived with the latter since he was a baby.
Rull was a former tanod of Barangay 8 before he was transferred to a relocation site in Barangay Vista Alegre.
On the angle of personal issues, Bonilla said the suspect might have something against Rull.
“Basi may gusto siya (suspect) kuhaon sa biktima,” he added.
Bonilla said they already have a lead on the suspect.
