The Phenom invasion is still on full display.
After an outstanding start in the Japan B. League with the Shiga Lakestars, Kiefer Ravena proved he is worth the hype after leading his team to another victory against the Ibaraki Robots, 85-77. The Lakestars also previously beat Ibaraki, 93-88, last Saturday, October 9.
Ravena and his playmaking skill was the biggest key to their two victories against Ibaraki that was also evident in his two showdowns against his younger brother Thirdy.
In their last game against the Robots, Ravena filled the stat sheet and chipped in 11 points, seven assists, two rebounds, and two steals in just 22 minutes of playing time.
Ravena’s consistent display of basketball helped the Lakestars earn a promising 3-1 win-loss record start in the B. League.
Tomomosa Ozawa, Shiga’s primary shooter, top-scored the game with 17 huge points while import Novar Gadson contributed 16 points.
With a week of rest for Ravena and the Lakestars, they will have the chance to clinch their third win in a row when they face Kyoto Hannaryz on October 16.
Aside from the Ravena brothers, Kobe Paras, Bobby Ray Parks Jr., and Juan Gomez de Liaño, several Filipino young stars are set to make their Japan debut: Dwight Ramos, Javi GDL, and Kemark Cariño.
