Metro Pacific Iloilo Water (MPIW), a joint venture company of Metro Pacific Water (MPW) and the Metro Iloilo Water District (MIWD), recently completed four (4) milestone infrastructure projects that will address the water losses in its water distribution system and improve its water service.
Residents of Brgy. San Isidro in Jaro now experience improved water availability after the completion of MPIW’s Uswag San Isidro Relocation Site Pipe Expansion and NRW Reduction Project.
Prior to the completion of this project, the existing service connections within the area only served 533 households of the 1,500-target beneficiaries of the project.
Because of the project, an estimated additional 300 households of the Gawad Kalinga Village already experienced piped water supply for the first time in 10 years.
The P21.4-million project laid 2,070 linear meters of pipes and grouped existing water meter connections.
Under the project, MPIW also constructed a bridge crossing, installed a bulk meter for the benefit of the households within the area, and formed a District Metering Area (DMA) to efficiently manage water losses.
MPIW also completed the P15.8-million River Plains Pipe Expansion and NRW Reduction Project that will provide potable water supply to residents of River Plains in Brgy. Lanit, Jaro, Iloilo City.
The project assures at least 1,000 households of water availability after MPIW laid 1,290 linear meters of new pipes in the area. MPIW also addressed water losses by extending pipes and organizing meter groupings.
Meanwhile, the Desamparados Pipe Replacement Project carried out at Brgy. Desamparados beside the Jaro Big Market improved the water supply of 50 existing concessionaires and assures future residents who intend to connect to MPIW’s distribution system of available water.
The works conducted under this project include the replacement of old cast iron lines that encroach the property of Jaro Big Market, the grouping and standardization of meters, and the installation of new water service connections. The project will improve water supply in the area and eliminate unregistered connections.
MPIW also recently completed the North Baluarte Pipe Replacement Project located in Brgy. North Baluarte, Molo, Iloilo City.
The project, which costs around P480,000, involved pipelaying works, the installation of meter groupings and new water service connections, and the standardization of existing meters.
With the installation of a new pipeline separate from the drainage in the area, residents of Brgy. North Baluarte are now assured of safe and potable water from MPIW.
Apart from these completed projects, MPIW also has other ongoing infrastructure projects in Bakhaw and Navais both in the Mandurriao District; Brgy. Balabago in Jaro; Savannah in Oton; Jardaleza in Leganes; and Angela Avenue in Pavia.
It has also undertaken water meter replacement projects throughout its service area. MPIW has taken an aggressive approach to minimize its water losses as it acknowledges that the rehabilitation of decades-old pipes and facilities will take some time.
Nonetheless, it also understands that its goal of improving its water services to Ilonggos will be achieved not only through infrastructure projects but also by enhancing its customer service experience.
MPIW has also lined up several projects within its pipeline which it intends to roll out in the near future.
