As the 2022 national elections approaches and the discourse both between and behind the candidates gunning for leadership positions continues to heat up, Now You Know PH is set to launch #NowYouVote2022 to encourage the Filipino youth to lend their voices and participate in the debate.
With the slogan “Katotohanan ay mananaig, kabataan ang maririnig,” #NowYouVote2022 intends to empower the country’s youth to speak out, putting themselves at the forefront of this next phase in the Philippines’ history and fighting for sweeping social changes in our society.
“The upcoming election cycle is critical not only for the next six years,” Campaign Lead Josh Mahinay said.
“Next year’s government leaders will pave our path out of the pandemic, and will influence the development of sectors for generations to come.”
Through a diverse selection of mediums and platforms, #NowYouVote2022 invites the country’s youth to the official launch of the campaign on October 26 through the Now You Know PH Facebook Page, Twitter, and YouTube Channel.
“Voter registration has reached a high for the upcoming election, and with half of the voters being part of the youth population, there are over 30 million youth voters that could turn the tide not only for the election, but now most critically, our nation in this time of need,” Mahinay said.
#NowYouVote2022 also welcomes youths from all walks of life to join in the discussion and stand side-by-side in the Now YOUth Talk! Episode 0 at 3 p.m. on Oct. 7, a live online kamustahan on the upcoming 2022 campaign season.
Later that night at 7 p.m., come and partake in The Calm(?) Before The Storm launch afterparty of the #NowYouVote2022 campaign, hosted by Rappler’s Jules Guiang and REC-CREATE’s Chef Rod and featuring special guests and artists such as Pepe Herrera, ToneeJay, and Shirebound & Busking, and so much more.
“We recognize that the change we want is not only achieved by discourse alone; we must now be creative,” Programs Manager Vernon Chua said.
“#NowYouVote2022 is set to introduce new culture and new politics with activations at many levels, be it through discussions, readings, and even performances.”
“We envision the campaign, moving forward, to cut through disinformation and personality politics; we shall demand that the people’s issues be given the spotlight in the upcoming election cycle,” Chua added.
“Our voice grows as we join hands with each new partner and partner organization, and as the network grows we expect #NowYouVote to reach the people we never could have reached with social media content alone.”
