The number of new COVID-19 cases in Iloilo City continues to decline amid the General Community Quarantine (GCQ) status.
Infections dropped by 71% from Oct 1 to 26, 2021 compared to the same dates in September.
Based on the City Epidemiological Surveillance Unit (CESU) Iloilo City recorded only 1,068 total cases on said dates, or a daily average of 41 cases.
The number is 70.97% lower compared to 3,679 cases in Sept. 1 to Sept. 26 or an average of 142 cases per day.
For the past three days, the city has consistently logged less than 20 cases – 15 on Oct 24; 18 on Oct. 25; and 17 cases on Oct. 26.
Meanwhile, the city’s health care utilization rate (HCUR) also dropped to 43.11% with a low-risk classification status, based on data from the Department of Health Region 6 (DOH-6) as of October 26, 2021.
Total cases in Iloilo City is now at 21,606 with 20,395 recoveries, 633 active cases, and 572 deaths.
Despite the drop in cases, Mayor Jerry Treñas reminded the public to not be complacent and continue in observing the minimum public health standards.
While the national Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) has yet to announce the quarantine status of Iloilo City for the month of November, the mayor has categorically said that the city will still be under GCQ for the whole November.
“While we will still be in GCQ for the whole of November, we will allow more economic activities and more movements for our minors and. Halong man kita guihapon. As soon as IATF allows us, I encourage everyone to be given booster shots for additional protection,” he said in a statement on Wednesday, October 27. (ERS)
