Man hacked dead by sister’s live-in partner

BACOLOD City – A man died after he was hacked by his sister’s live-in partner following an argument with their mother in Barangay Dancalan, Ilog, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

Police identified the fatality as Jestony Ubay, 27.

Investigation indicated that Ubay was reportedly having an argument with his mother when he allegedly took a bladed weapon and attempted to stab the latter.

But Ubay was prevented by his 19-year-old sister who grappled for the weapon, causing them to fall to the ground.

Ubay’s sister got wounded during the commotion and shouted for help from her live-in partner Danilo Andilab, 23.

Andilab allegedly hacked Ubay with a bolo upon seeing his live-in partner on the ground.

The siblings were taken to a hospital where Ubay was declared dead on arrival.

Andilab was placed under police custody.

Meanwhile, in Talisay City, police are suspecting foul play behind the death of a cock farm caretaker at Sitio Cabacahan, Barangay Cabatangan, Talisay City yesterday.

According to the police, Leo Benes, 37, of Barangay Mailum, Bago City was reported missing for three days.

When the farm owner visited the place that day, he went to a nipa hut where the victim was staying.

But while approaching the hut, he smelled a foul odor. When he checked, he saw the lifeless body of the victim.

A wound was seen on the victim’s head, indicating possible foul play, the police said. Investigation is ongoing.
