BACOLOD City – Police are waiting for the decision of the relatives of a man who was allegedly stabbed to death by his uncle in La Castellana, Negros Occidental last Wednesday.

Police Staff Sergeant Francis Barillo, investigator of La Castellana Municipal Police Station, identified the victim as Alden Alojepan, 39, of Sitio Binalbagan, Barangay Masulog, La Castellana.

Alojepan was also the village chief’s brother.

Barillo said Alojepan and the suspect identified as 23-year-old Justin Tribo had a drinking session early that day when they figured in an argument due to drunkenness.

“Nag-baisay sila kay hubog na,” Barillo said.

The cause of the argument remains unclear, however.

Barillo said Tribo went to the kitchen and took a bladed weapon which he used on Alojepan.

Alojepan succumbed to a lone stab wound in the abdomen at a private hospital here later that night.

Tribo was arrested two hours after the incident happened, but police did not recover the weapon he used in the crime.

Barillo said the victim and the suspect had no previous conflict that may have triggered the incident.

“Hubog lang gid sila pareho pag lalisay nila,” he added.

Barillo said the suspect will be released from police custody after the lapse of his 36-hour reglementary detention, pending the inquest filing of the case against him.
