A principal was arrested after he allegedly fired his gun while inside a school at Barangay Guinobatan. Leganes, Iloilo.
The suspect was identified as Romeo Valiente, 58, a resident of Barangay Poblacion, Leganes, Iloilo.
Major Joeven Arevalo, Leganes police chief, said police responded to the area after receiving a call from Barangay Captain Jessie Gullos around 7:35 p.m. of Dec 14, 2021.
Gullos claimed to have heard gunfire at the Guinobatan Elementary School.
When police operatives went to the area, Valiente peacefully surrendered his sling bag where he kept a caliber .357 handgun.
The suspect told investigators that there were persons who have been hurling stones at the roof of the school building.
Prior to the firing episode, stones again rained on the rooftop of his office where he intended to sleep for the night.
He immediately went out and fired his gun.
Witnesses claimed to have heard at least three gunfire volleys.
Arevalo said that a case for violation of Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act) was already filed against the suspect on Wednesday.
