A motorcycle rider yielded marijuana leaves in a checkpoint at Mandurriao, Iloilo City early evening of February 1.
Police identified the suspect as Daryl Jan Haro, 31, a resident of Barangay Lambuyao, Oton, Iloilo.
Haro was driving from Oton town to a friend’s house for drinks when he was arrested.
He passed by a checkpoint at Barangay Calajunan, Mandurriao which was manned by personnel of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) City Mobile Force Company and the Iloilo City Mobile Patrol Unit (MPU).
Lieutenant Colonel Ricardo Jomuad, Jr., ICPO-CMFC commander, said Haro appeared to be uneasy when he stopped at the checkpoint.
He was asked to present the motorcycle’s registration papers and made to pull up his shirt to check for any concealed weapon.
When he did, an improvised tooter fell to the ground.
This prompted Haro to attempt to flee but police operatives were quick to arrest him.
When frisked, police recovered a re-sealable plastic sachet containing dried marijuana leaves.
Haro is now detained at the lock-up cell of the Iloilo City Police Station pending the filing of charges for violation of Sections 11 and 12, Article II of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
