Kagawad, 17 others nabbed for drugs

BACOLOD City – Eighteen persons, including a barangay council member and a minor, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations here and in Negros Occidental from March 19 to 27.

Police seized a total of P203,352 worth of illegal drugs from the said operations in a week.

In Ilog town, Barangay Consuelo Kagawad Kenneth Cuenca, 35, and six others, including a minor were apprehended in a drug bust in Barangay 1 last Thursday.

Police recovered from Cuenca two sachets of suspected shabu, while some also yielded sachets of suspected shabu, the P500 marked money, P70, match, a pair of scissors, three lighters, two improvised straw scoops, and empty plastic sachets.

The recovered illegal drugs has an estimated value of P3,400, according to the police.

Cuenca has yet to be reached for comment.

Aside from the apprehension in Ilog town, eight others were also arrested in the cities of Silay, Victorias, Bago, Kabankalan, and Cadiz, with a total confiscation of P113,152 worth of suspected shabu.

In Bacolod, three persons were also arrested in Barangays 19 and Handumanan, that resulted in the confiscation of P86,800 worth of the said contraband.
