“The offering of the PhD in Education is a very significant development for UP Visayas. As you know, Western Visayas is an educational center,” said UPV Chancellor Clement Camposano during his opening remarks at the launch of the PhD in Education program on March 29, 2022, via Zoom.
UPV, through the Division of Professional Education, College of Arts and Sciences, will be hosting the PhD in Education program of UP Diliman’s College of Education starting Academic Year 2022-2023.
Dr. Jerome Buenviaje, Dean of the College of Education, UP Diliman, gave an overview of the PhD in Education program. At the same time, College Secretary Dr. Jaclyn Marie Cauyan provided basic information on the program, such as admission requirements.
Meanwhile, College of Arts and Sciences Dean Dr. Alice Joan Ferrer gave information on the degree program offerings of CAS. The Division of Professional Education is one of the divisions under the college.
For his part, the Chair of the Division of Professional Education, Prof. Pepito Fernandez, Jr., shared the division’s program and thrusts.
The areas of concentration of the PhD in Education are as follows: Anthropology/Sociology of Education, Biology Education, Chemistry Education, Curriculum Studies, Educational Administration, Educational Psychology, Guidance, History and Philosophy of Education, Language Education, Mathematics Education, Physics Education, Reading Education, Research and Evaluation, Social Studies, and Special Education.
