The Bureau of Customs (BOC)-Port of Cebu successfully hosted the Collectors’ Conference at Jpark Island Resort and Waterpark Cebu, Lapu-Lapu City last Friday, May 6, 2022.
In attendance were Commissioner Rey Leonardo B. Guerrero and the Bureau’s Deputy Commissioners, Directors, Division Chiefs, and District Collectors.
During the conference, the District Collectors discussed the accomplishments and concerns of their respective collection districts.
The Bureau-wide collection performance was also analyzed, including updates on the newly rolled out systems and strategies to sustain the programs of the agency.
Commissioner Guerrero commended the ports for the initiatives and programs that the ports consistently implement for the betterment of their collection districts.
He emphasized that the hitting of collection targets, upgrading and refinement of intelligence and enforcement capabilities, and enhancement of trade facilitation were made possible through the hard work and conscious effort of all personnel of the Bureau.
He encouraged everyone to continue to work tirelessly to sustain the agency’s transformation programs.
Commissioner Guerrero also awarded certificates of commendation to the Ports of San Fernando, Manila, Manila International Container Port, Batangas, Legaspi, Iloilo, Cebu, Cagayan de Oro, Zamboanga, Davao, Subic, Clark, Aparri, and Limay for hitting their assigned collection targets for April 2022.
Towards the latter part, the World Customs Organization (WCO) virtually presented the draft Action Plan on Integrity Development and Countering Corruption in the BOC and discussed steps to ensure its implementation.
The discussion concluded the six-day Consultations on the Revised Arusha Declaration Concerning Customs Integrity between the BOC and the WCO.
The conference ended with the presentation of a Certificate of Commendation to the Port of Cebu for the successful hosting of the Collectors’ Conference. District Collector Charlito Martin R. Mendoza, on the other hand, presented a portrait painting to the Commissioner as a token of appreciation from the men and women of the Port of Cebu.
