Government forces in Western Visayas vowed their “unequivocal support” to the leadership of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr.
In their official Facebook pages, the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6) and the Philippine Army’s 3rd Infantry (Spearheaded) Division congratulated Marcos, the country’s 17th president who assumed office on June 30, 2022.
“Today marks another historic milestone in our political life as a nation. We proved that we are indeed a beacon of democracy! The PRO-6 Facebook page,” PRO-6 said in a statement.
The 3rd ID also made the same wishes as it welcomed its new commander-in-chief.
Meanwhile, Brigadier General Flynn Dongbo, Western Visayas police chief, also assured that “as government employee or police officers, we will do our share to contribute in achieving the goals of our new administration.”
He added that the police force in Western Visayas “expect positive development for the country.”
Meanwhile, Major General Benedict Arevalo, 3rd ID commander, said that “as part of the security forces whose task is to protect the people, maintain the peace and contribute to the development in this part of the country, we are confident that the next administration will continue the gains of the effective whole of government and whole of nation mechanism, on our campaign against terrorism.”
Arevalo said that with passage of Executive Order No. 70 which established the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), “the 3rd ID had witnessed the convergence of the various government agencies in resolving socio-economic issue of those geographically isolated and disadvantage areas.”
Signed in Dec. 4, 2018, EO 70 is about “Institutionalizing the Whole-Of-Nation Approach in Attaining Inclusive and Sustainable Peace, Creating A National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict, and Directing the Adoption of A National Peace Framework.”
“For now, your army in Western and Central Visayas will continue to accomplish our mandated task, that is contribute in fighting all sort of threats that the country is facing,” Arevalo said.
