After Mark V. Pinggol (MVP) taekwondo gym of Iloilo product Julianna Martha Uy’s stellar run, another Ilongga brought pride to the country after winning a medal during the 2022 Asian Cadet, Junior, and Para Taekwondo Championships held in Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam.

Elizabeth Marie Borres, one of the best jins Coach Flora Taekwondo & A. Diasnes taekwondo gym of Iloilo produced, also impressed in the international scene and bagged the bronze medal in the Team Poomsae Junior Female category.

The incoming Grade 10 student of Ateneo de Iloilo continued her streak of major achievements and is mentored by coach Flora Navales and the different coaches of the A. Diasnes gym.

Previously, Borres also dominated the international scene during the 4th Lents Taekwondo Worldwide Sports Online Poomsae tournament.

The Ilongga star won the bronze medal in the Team Female Under-17 Blackbelt category together with Elisha Aguilar and Camille Tanagon.

Borres’ last gold medal came during the 2022 SMART/MVPSF National Online Interschool Poomsae Championships after ruling the advanced team junior division.

Elizabeth is the younger sister of Elaine Margaret Borres who is another Ilongga jin currently making waves in the UAAP.

Elaine is one of the members of the Ateneo de Manila taekwondo varsity team and helped the school reach an improved rank from the previous UAAP seasons.
