BACOLOD City – The Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) recorded a significant drop of five percent or six crime incidents from 120 in August 2021 to 114 in August 2022.
Of the 114 incidents, 90 were peace and order indicators, which include the eight focus crimes or index crimes, while 24 were public safety indicators, which include traffic accidents.
Based on the data from the BCPO, index crimes or eight focus crimes such as murder, homicide, robbery, rape, physical injury, theft, carnapping, and motornapping, plunged to 22 incidents this year from 43 incidents last year, which is equivalent to 48.83 percent.
For non-index crimes, which include special law violations, the BCPO noted a slight increase from 66 incidents to 68 or 3.03 percent.
Meanwhile, public safety indicators increased from 11 incidents in 2021 to 24 in 2022.
The overall Crime Solution Efficiency slightly decreased from 84.17 percent in 2021 to 69.30 percent in comparison to 2022.
However, it surpassed the BCPO’s target set by the higher office at 66.41 percent.
Apparently, the Average Monthly Crime Rate (AMCR) decreased by five percent from 19.61 in 2021 to 14.63, the following year.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Sherlock Gabana, public information officer of BCPO, said the crime reduction and the average monthly crime rate may be attributed to the intensified police-initiated operations, focused police operations, and crime prevention measures conducted by the various police units of BCPO.
Gabana said the regular conduct of Enhanced Managing Police Operations (EMPO) also helped discuss, address, and apply appropriate and target-specific interventions in the reduction of crime incidents, particularly the eight focus crimes.
Police Colonel Thomas Joseph Martir, BCPO director, reiterated his reminder to the personnel to continue to step up in the fight against all forms of criminality.
The BCPO, in adherence to the program thrust of the Philippine National Police (PNP), vows to put a stop to prevalent crimes and continues to engage the community for cooperation and strong partnership against lawless elements.
