BACOLOD City – The Social Security System (SSS) issued written orders to delinquent employers in the cities of Cadiz and Sagay, Negros Occidental in its continuing Run After Contributions Evaders (RACE) Campaign on September 12.
Eight employers from various sectors were visited by the RACE team headed by SSS Visayas West 1 Division Head Lilani B. Benedian, with Operations Legal Department’s Atty. Jul Davi P. Saez and Atty. Maria Conchita D. Antipatia.
Six employers failed to remit the SSS contributions of their employees while two others failed to register their establishments with SSS.
As of July 31, 2022, these employers incurred P2.7 million worth of unremitted contributions and penalties.
“The employers’ failure to remit their employees’ contributions prevents them from availing the various benefits and privileges,” Benedian said.
Based on Republic Act 11199 also known as Social Security Act of 2018, employers are mandated to register their business on its first day of operation, report employees on their first day of employment; deduct from the employees’ monthly salaries their share of Social Security (SS) contributions including Employees’ Compensation; and remit these including their share as employers to the SSS on or before the prescribed deadline.
Failure or refusal to comply with the provisions of the said law is punishable by a fine of not less than P5,000.00 nor more than P20,000.00 or imprisonment for not less than six years and one day nor more than twelve years, or both at the discretion of the court.
“Applications for the Pandemic Relief and Restructuring Program 3 or Enhanced Installment Payment Program will still be accepted until November 21, 2022. Under this program, we are offering them flexible payment terms ranging from 9 months to 60 months, depending on the amount of total delinquency. Qualified employers may coordinate with the Account Officers assigned to them for the reconciliation of records and settlement of contribution delinquency,” Benedian concluded.
