The Philippine Statistics Authority–Iloilo Provincial Statistical Office (PSA-IPSO) started the enumeration of the 2022 Occupational Wages Survey (OWS) and 2021/2022 Integrated Survey on Labor and Employment (ISLE) on October 3, 2022.
The surveys covered the municipalities of Guimbal, Miag-ao, Oton, and Tigbauan (First District), Leganes, Leon, San Miguel, New Lucena, Zarraga, Pavia, and Sta Barbara (Second District), Cabatuan, Calinog, Janiuay, Lambuano, Mina, and Pototan (Third District), Dueñas, Dumangas, Passi City, and Barotac Nuevo (Fourth District), and Balasan, Barotac Viejo, Concepcion, Estancia, and Sara (Fifth District) in the province of Iloilo; and Iloilo City.
These surveys will generate critical data as inputs to the decision-making of the government and private sectors.
The OWS measures the wage differential across occupations and industries in the county as well as determine inequalities in typically low-wage occupations and high-wage occupation among workers.
On the other hand, ISLE integrates concerns related to employment, workers’ welfare and protection, and labor relations, and is one of the major sources of core labor statistics as prescribed under the International Labour Statistics Convention and the supplementary Labour Statistics Recommendation for ratifying countries to generate data related on employment, labor standards and labor relations.
The PSA-Iloilo hired 7 statistical researchers who will cover 262 samples for OWS and 262 samples for ISLE.
They underwent Third Level Training from September 26 to 29,2022 and started their operations on October 3. The operation of the said surveys is expected to end on January 16, 2023.
OIC-Provincial Statistics Officer Jerry Dolutan, and the Focal Person of these surveys, Statistical Specialist II Donna Rose Sequio request the cooperation and support of the samples establishment for the smooth operation of the projects.
