The 33rd National Statistics Month (NSM) celebration in the Province of Guimaras kicked off on October 10, 2022.
An opening program organized by the Provincial Planning and Development Office together with the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras was held after the flag-raising ceremony.
Provincial Government of Guimaras (PGG) employees participated in the Statistical Trivia Q&As held in connection with the official start of the celebration. Winners received tokens/prizes.
The theme for this year’s celebration is: “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with informed decisions, Better Policies”.
Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare delivered a message to officially launch the opening of NSM celebration in the province.
Losare underscored that statistics plays a crucial and significant role in the pursuit of economic recovery.
She said that statistics is important in crafting appropriate decisions and policies needed to spur efforts for recovery.
“This year’s celebration carries the theme “Boosting the Country’s Recovery with informed decisions, Better Policies” which emphasizes the critical role of statistics in crafting the most appropriate decisions and policies that are needed to boost efforts for recovery. As the country’s recovery continues to take off, public and private sectors both play important roles by providing and producing a more comprehensive data, actively participating in economic activities, and making informed decisions out of relevant available information,” Losare said.
Various activities are lined up for the National Statistics Month celebration in Guimaras.
The 4-day Capacity Development (CapDev) Training on Data Management and Data-driven Decisions Making was held at the Guimaras Mountain Resort at Piña-Daragan, Buenavista last October 4-7, 2022.
A total of 51 individuals from the agencies that are members of the Provincial Statistical Committee, participated in the 4-day activity.
Other activities include among others: oratorical contest for senior high students, infographics contest, a provincial data expo, Kaathagan sa Estadistika (a lecture series), data dissemination of commonly used statistics such as Inflation rate, Vital events, health statistics, labor force survey, tourism statistics, crime and other statistics produced by PSC member agencies, community service of the LCRO Jordan, PSA, and Guimaras Civil Registrar’s Association, Inc.
