BACOLOD City – A young dispatcher was found dead in front of a school at Crossing Carmen in Barangay Granada here yesterday.
The victim was identified as Erwin Abitong, 21, of the said village.
Police Captain John Christopher Masangkay, head of Police Station 5, said the victim was found with a lone stab wound in the chest around 6:10 a.m.
Masangkay said the victim had just recently started to work as a dispatcher at the Reclamation area, following the completion of his work at the construction site.
Masangkay believed that the victim could have been monitored. The perpetrator then probably waited for him in the area, as he frequently goes home around 11 p.m., the station commander added.
Police recovered from the scene a scabbard that might be owned by one or two unidentified perpetrators.
Masangkay said they have no motive yet in the incident, despite the victim’s family revealing to the police that he had threats last Sept.
He added that some dummy accounts previously sent a message to the victim through his social media account, warning him not to go home to Hacienda Carmen.
The victim, based on the statements of his family, had no enemies that could be linked to the killing. He added that the victim also had no criminal record.
