The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Aklan District Engineering Office completed the construction of three road projects to improve the travel experience and accessibility in the remote barangays of New Washington, Aklan.
Citing a report from OIC-District Engineer Gener J. Abergas, DPWH Regional Director Nerie D. Bueno said each project costs ₱4.9 million.
“These road projects aim to improve accessibility for the traveling public in Aklan. These include a 960-lineal meter road in Barangay Mabilo, a 550-lineal meter road in Barangay Cawayan, and a 583-lineal meter road in Barangay Ochando,” Engr. Bueno said.
“The improved road will provide our people with easier access to their essential needs. Social, health, educational, and other essential services will also be easily delivered to the people even in remote areas,” Bueno added.
Engr. Abergas said the projects involved the construction of Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) with solar LED lights to ensure travelers’ safety.
“Our main priority at DPWH is to build infrastructures geared toward the safety of the general public. All these road projects are constructed with Portland Concrete Cement Pavement (PCCP) and include solar-powered LED lighting, which is essential when traveling during nighttime,” stressed Engr.
