ROXAS CITY, Capiz – The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) has activated the Sapian Fire Station (SFS) in Sapian town to make fire prevention as well as suppression services more accessible in the municipality.
The activation was in time with the inauguration and blessing of the SFS new building that was graced by Capiz second congressional district Rep. Jane Castro, vice-governor Jaime Magbanua, Sapian mayor Jose Villanueva and BFP officials led by director Chief Supt. Jerry Candido, among others.
“I hope that your new fire station will give you an inspiration to further serve and protect town residents from fire incidents,” said Castro, adding that the conflagration does not only raze the victims’ properties and valuables but also affects their privacy.
Sapian is the last municipality from among 16 towns in the province to activate its fire station.
The establishment of the fire station was initiated by Provincial Administrator Arthur John H. Biñas during his incumbency as the town’s local chief executive.
For his part, Candido has assured Sapian local officials and residents that the firefighters assigned at the SFS are well trained and ready to risk their lives for the residents of the town and neighboring areas.
The 10-member SFS is led by Municipal Fire Marshal SFO2 Ronel V. Isiderio.
“We are here not only on fire suppression but we are here to serve all of you in any emergencies,” said Candido.
He also pledged a new fire truck for the newly activated fire station.
During the program, the local government unit conveyed its appreciation to the BFP, Capiz Gov. Fredenil Castro and Rep. Castro for their support on the establishment of the station.
“I am so proud and very happy that today marks the beginning of what we feel as a secured Sapian from the threats of fires,” Villanueva said. (PIA-Capiz)
