Boracay accommodation awaits good cops

Just as the PNP leadership is keen on its internal discipline efforts, it also gives a premium on officers’ morale and welfare.

“We have regular programs that grant awards and rewards to deserving personnel,” according to Brigadier General Leo Francisco, Police Regional Office-6 chief.

And for those deserving policemen, “we have now a PNP staff house in Boracay Island intended for those PRO6 personnel who are doing good jobs. Their reward is if they have done good jobs, they can avail that for free including their families,” he said.

Francisco said a police officer must be “very good” to avail of the facility.

The region’s top cop said that they’re now crafting guidelines on the use of the PNP Barracks and Transient Facility.

At one time, the barracks could accommodate 30 persons.

The facility located at Sitio Bantud, Boracay, Malay, Aklan was opened on April 11, 2023.

The project was implemented during the incumbency of Major General Cambay Jr. as chief of the Metro Boracay Police Task Force.

The MBPTF was created to guard the island during its closure in April 2018.

A plan to build a transient house and barracks was conceptualized to house additional police personnel.

After some bumps, the project was realized after five years.
