Two newborn babies found in separate areas

BACOLOD City – Police are trying to trace the persons who left two newborn babies in separate areas in Negros Occidental yesterday.

The first incident was reported in Sagay City, where a baby boy was found alive in a sugarcane field in Barangay Poblacion 2 past 6 a.m.

The baby, still with the placenta and the umbilical cord, was wrapped in a cloth.

A sugarcane worker heard the baby’s cry, prompting him to search for the noise until he found the infant.

Police Lieutenant Colonel Roberto Indiape Jr., Sagay City police chief, said the baby was taken to a hospital for medical examination.

About an hour later, a baby girl was found dead in a garbage dumpsite in Barangay Hilamonan, Kabankalan City.

Police Lieutenant Colonel John Joel Batusbatusan, Kabankalan City police chief, said that a garbage segregator found the lifeless infant.

The baby was wrapped in a black garbage bag and was placed in a box, according to the police.
