Daily Guardian unveiled commemorative historical markers at K-Town and the MORE Power Megaworld Substation at Megaworld Boulevard to celebrate Ilonggo developments and prosperity.
The unveiling of these markers was held on May 5, 2023 led by Francis Allan Angelo; Daily Guardian Editor-in-Chief, Lcid Crescent Fernandez; Vice-President External, Lawrence Clark Fernandez; Publisher, and Karmela Alexandra Jesena; General Manager of Festive Walk Iloilo, alongside other representatives from Megaworld.
These markers use actual headlines from Daily Guardian’s coverage, with a QR code to the actual articles. The markers recognize Daily Guardian’s 22-year contribution to ethical news reporting as well as commemorate recent achievements in Iloilo.
With the opening of K-Town (short for KoreaTown) in August 2022, Iloilo City has cemented its role as among the most Korean-friendly places to visit in the Philippines. Here, Korean and Ilonggo cultures come together to the delight of snackish foodies and the adventurous. Food, art, and music prove true what they say about Ilonggos as the most endearing and affectionate among all Filipinos.
The Megaworld Substation began operations in February 2020. Not only has the advanced facility stabilized power needs across the city, it has allowed for exponential growth in business within Iloilo City. With more available power supply, dozens of new BPO companies have emerged along Megaworld Boulevard with numerous skyscrapers in progress.
Eleven other markers will be unveiled to designate significant cultural and infrastructural landmarks within the city, and will be displayed for a period of two months.
