ROXAS CITY, Capiz – Another long weekend here as the city government suspended work and classes at all levels in celebration of “Kaadlawan sang Roxas City” on May 12 and 13, 2023.
Roxas City Mayor Ronnie Dadivas issued on May 10, 2023 Executive Order 12 that sets preparations for the city’s 72nd charter anniversary.
Roxas City is an agri-fishery capital of the province of Capiz with 47 barangays.
Capiz became a chartered city on May 12, 1951 through House Bill 1528 sponsored by Ramon Acuña Arnaldo, the representative of the First District of Capiz. It was signed by President Elpidio Quirino on April 11, 1951 as Republic Act 603.
Consequently, the town was named Roxas City after his illustrious son, President Manuel Acuña Roxas, the last president of the Commonwealth and the first president of the Philippine Republic.
The city government invites everyone to be part of this two-day extravaganza, brimming with a wide array of activities that promise to ignite joy and excitement in every attendee.
The festivities kick off with a heartwarming Thanksgiving Mass on May 12, followed by a vibrant parade and an exciting basketball game.
