37 Western Visayas cops hurdle drug test

Thirty-seven ranking police personnel in Western Visayas hurdled the surprise drug test on May 29.

Major Mary Grace Borio, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 spokesperson, said that there were only 37 policemen who underwent the drug test and not 47, as she earlier reported.

Newly-installed Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 chief Brigadier General Sidney Villaflor led the officers who tested negative for illegal drug use.

Among those who were called to undergo the drug test were the members of the PRO-6 command group – the deputy regional director for administration (DRDA), the deputy regional director for operations (DRDO), and the chief regional directorial staff.

The ten chiefs of the regional staff, special staff, and personal staff also had themselves tested.

Some chiefs of the different PNP national support units (NSUs) also underwent and hurled the drug test.

Borio said the surprise drug test on the 37 officers is part of Villaflor’s Integrity Enhancement strategy.

The move was in consonance with the 5-point Strategic Framework A.C.O.R.D.A. of PNP Chief Police General Benjamin C. Acorda Jr.

Borio said the drug test was conducted purposely to determine the presence of Methamphetamine and THC-Metabolites in the specimens collected by the Regional Forensic Unit 6.

“I am very happy about the result of the surprise drug test. This only goes to show that the officers of PRO6 have high regard for their integrity, commitment to duty, and service reputation,” Villaflor said.
