Kevin Ferrer is officially out of the PBA season.

The current veteran swingman of the Terrafirma Dyip injured his Achilles late in the second half during the ongoing PBA On Tour Preseason game schedule last June 7, 2023.

Despite the win over the TNT Tropang Giga, the whole Terrafirma squad will be facing a tougher challenge in the upcoming PBA Conference with the absence of Ferrer.

Ferrer went down on his own after contesting for a rebound and admitted that he felt a pop in his Achilles area.

After the sequence, the former superstar of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) grimaced in pain and had to be stretched out of the playing venue.

Terrafirma’s head coach Johnedel Cardel also gave updates on Ferrer and revealed that he will be out for 10-12 months and will undergo rehabilitation after his surgery.

This is a big blow for the struggling franchise after two successive major injuries on their roster. The first one was last year when lottery pick Isaac Go went down with a torn ACL.

A sigh of relief then came when Go was already cleared by his medical doctors to play this season and already suited up for the Dyip in the preseason.

Without Ferrer, coach Cardel will have to bank on the veteran presence of leading scorer Juami Tiongson and the impact Go will make in the regular season.

Terrafirma is yet to see action in the PBA Playoffs and is determined to notch enough wins to have a better standing in this conference compared to the Governor’s Cup.

Aside from Tiongson, Javi Gomez de Liaño, Aldrech Ramos, Eric Camson, and Alex Cabagnot are expected to ball out this season if they want to punch a ticket to the PBA Playoffs.
