BACOLOD City – Rescuers retrieved yesterday the body of a security guard a day after he drowned in a sea at Sitio Sibucao, Barangay Banago here last Sunday.
The Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) District Western Visayas identified the victim as Glenn Cahaponon, 36, of Barangay 1 here.
Based on a report from the PCG, the victim and his two companions went on a boating activity on Sunday morning.
While they were sailing, the victim allegedly jumped off the boat and went swimming. However, he was swept by the strong water current.
This prompted one of his companions to rescue him but failed to do so because he was not a swimmer.
After a while, the victim was no longer visible in the water. His companions then sought help.
On Monday afternoon, the victim was found about two nautical miles away from the shoreline of the said area, according to the PCG. He was identified by his family.
His remains were already turned over to his family.
