BACOLOD City – The Diocese of San Carlos in Negros Occidental appealed to local and national government institutions to ensure justice for the family of four who were brutally murdered at their house in Barangay Buenavista, Himamaylan City last week.
In a statement, Bishop Gerardo Alminaza said the government should hold accountable those responsible for this heinous act.
“We mourn the deaths of Rolly Fausto, his wife Emilda, and their two children aged 11 and 15,” Alminaza said.
The Church condemned the brutal killing and offered prayers to the victims and their bereaved family.
The victims were shot by unidentified armed persons at their house on the night of June 14.
Emilda and her two children were found lifeless at their house, while Rolly was found a few meters away from their residence the following day.
The incident was initially linked to the New People’s Army (NPA), which also accused the local Army for the incident.
But the rebel group and the Army have denied participation in the said massacre.
Police are gathering statements from witnesses as they conduct an in-depth investigation on the incident.
The four victims were laid to rest last Sunday, amid the call of their loved ones for justice.
