BACOLOD City – Police have yet to identify the persons who stole 600 meters of copper ground wires worth P660,000 from the compound of the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) at Hacienda Aquiles, Barangay San Isidro, Calatrava, Negros Occidental last Thursday.
Police Major Ronald Santillan, town police chief, said that a security officer discovered the missing copper wires during an on-site inspection at the compound.
Santillan said the said facility is not yet fully operational, as its construction is ongoing.
Thus, there’s a possibility that perpetrators could have sneaked into the compound through other ways, despite the presence of two security guards.
Santillan said they are challenged because there are no witnesses.
He said they have already visited the junk shops in the town to check if the stolen copper wires were sold, but there were none.
He said they will also check other junk shops in nearby towns and cities.
