The F2 Logistics Cargo Movers opened their 2023 Premier Volleyball League (PVL) Invitational Conference campaign on a high note after sweeping the Farm Fresh Froxies, 25-22, 25-20, 25-23, last June 27, 2023, held at the FilOil EcoOil Centre.
F2 showed they were the more experienced squad and dealt the newly formed Farm Fresh team a reality check during the opening game of the PVL Invitational Conference.
It was the same system that the Cargo Movers ran in the entire three-set victory as their team chemistry and tough middle blocking helped them set the tone early in the match.
Ivy Lacsina, who recently transitioned from a middle blocker to an open hitter, paid off her team’s trust after displaying an efficient offensive game.
The former National University (NU) Lady Bulldogs star top-scored for the yellow nation after dropping 13 points built from 12 successful attacks.
Aby Maraño, the team’s long-time skipper, also stepped up for the Cargo Movers and added 10 points with most of them produced in the last two sets.
The Cargo Movers looked to be in full control after taking a 2-0 lead but Farm Fresh stepped on the gas pedal and fought back in the crucial third set.
After a salty spiking performance in the first two sets, the Foxies finally found their rhythm in the final set but unfortunately, F2 Logistics stormed back and countered with their own scoring avalanche led by Kim Kianna Dy.
It was also an experimental stage for the Cargo Movers after welcoming their two star rookies in Mars Alba and Jolina Dela Cruz.
The superstar tandem out of De La Salle University (DLSU) earned their minutes despite being rookies and moved comfortably under the system of head coach Regine Diego.
“Syempre we are happy na panalo kami but we still have to learn more. We have to make better connections with each other lalo na bago si Alba sa loob ng court so marami pa siyang adjustments,” said coach Diego.
