BACOLOD City – Two persons were killed in separate road accidents here and in Negros Occidental last Sunday.
The first accident was reported in Barangay Mansilingan here, which killed Ruel Basa Jr., 27, of Valladolid town.
Police Captain Andy Ofalia, head of Police Station 7, said that Basa was driving a motorcycle when he reportedly sideswiped a car that was traveling in the opposite direction.
Basa suffered serious injuries and died.
Ofalia said they are waiting for the decision of the victim’s family on whether to file a case or not against the 58-year-old car driver.
Meanwhile, in La Castellana town, a salesman died after his tricycle collided with a Ceres Liner bus in Barangay Cabacungan.
The victim was identified as Anthony Paulan, 42, of Moises Padilla town.
Police Captain Dennis Melgarejo, deputy chief of La Castellana Municipal Police Station, said that Paulan overshot on the lane of the bus, causing a collision.
Melgarejo said that Paulan probably lost control of his driven tricycle while approaching a curve part of the road.
The passengers of the bus were unharmed, while the bus driver was detained.
Melgarejo said the victim’s family and the bus company reached a settlement yesterday, and the bus driver was later released from police custody.
