Filipina weightlifting sensation Vanessa Sarno continued her dominant streak on the international stage after completing a three-gold medal haul during the recently concluded Asian Weightlifting Youth and Junior Championships held in New Dehli, India, last August 2, 2023.

Sarno was in the zone once again after clinching the championship title in the women’s junior 71-kg category while also topping the snatch and the clean and jerk.

The 19-year-old weightlifting superstar lifted a total of 216-kg to claim the gold medal and added another prestigious title under her belt.

Sarno kicked off her title bid with a 95-kg score in the snatch and capped off her domination in India with a 121-kg tally in the clean and jerk.

Phattharathida Wongsing of Thailand tried to catch up to Sarno’s score after lifting a total of 92-kg in the snatch but fell short in the end when she only scored 120-kg in the clean and jerk.

Wongsing placed behind Sarno with a silver medal finish after lifting a total of 212-kg followed by Uzbekistan’s Sevinchoy Komilova.

Uzbekistan’s young bet only scored a total of 198-kg but was enough to put her in third place as she lifted 88-kg in the snatch and 110-kg in the clean and jerk.

Aside from Sarno, Rosegie and Rose Jean Ramos, Jhodie Peralta, Angeline Colonia, Prince Keil delos Santos, Eron Borres, Albert Ian delos Santos, and Alexsandra Ann Diaz also brought pride to the PHL in the prestigious weightlifting tournament.

The combined achievements of all the PH representatives including Sarno helped the delegation finish the competition with a total of 19 golds, 10 silvers, and four bronze medals.
