BACOLOD City – Three persons, including a father and his daughter, were arrested in separate buy-bust operations in Negros Occidental last Thursday.

In Kabankalan City, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Negros Occidental apprehended a 39-year-old man in Barangay 6 after he allegedly yielded 21 grams of suspected shabu worth P142,800.

The suspect allegedly sold a shabu to a police agent for P500, according to the police.

Police Captain Joelan Vinson, deputy chief of Kabankalan City Police Station, said the suspect is under the station’s drugs watchlist.

Vinson said the suspect had a previous case, but he has no details about it.

In Silay City, Elizabeth Bermejo, 31, was arrested by police at Sitio Dacutan Diotay, Barangay Guinhalaran following the confiscation of 14 grams of suspected shabu worth P95,200.

Bermejo is a street level individual, according to the police.

Police Major Rhea Sarah Villanueva, officer-in-charge of Silay City Police Station, said that Bermejo was the target of the operation.

But her father Apolinario, 72, was implicated for alleged obstruction of justice.

Villanueva said that the father reportedly interfered during the operation when he tried to stop the police from arresting his daughter.

Police decided to handcuff him to prevent him from further interfering, she added.

Villanueva said the father calmed down after he was handcuffed.

She said that they received information from the community, prompting them to conduct monitoring and launch the operation against Bermejo.
