The Philippine Statistics Authority Regional Statistical Services Office VI together with its Provincial Statistical Offices joined the 2nd Philippine Data Festival held on 03-04 October 2023 at Century Park Hotel, Metro Manila.
Students and faculty from the University of the Philippines Visayas (UPV) also participated in the two-day event.
The Philippine Data Festival is an event consisting of presentations and open discussions, expositions, games, and contests. The activity aims to instill appreciation and enhance statistical literacy on official statistics among students; enjoins the academe in the advocacy of statistics; strengthen partnerships and foster collaboration with other government offices, civil society organizations, and the private sector; and promote proper interpretation and use of official statistics among media practitioners.
Presentation and discussion on various topics were presented, such as but not limited to as follows:
- Role of data in local and national evidence-based policymaking
- Sustainable development goals
- Gender roles and statistics
- Health and pandemic-related statistics
- Macroeconomy and Finance
- Registration Statistics
- Education and Labor Statistics
- Emerging Trends and industries
The event concluded with the announcement of winners for the InfographicsMaking, Data Reporting, and StatisTiktok Contests. The entry from UPV was hailed champion of the StatisTiktok Contest.
