The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office officially handed to the Local Government Unit (LGU) of San Lorenzo the data of the 2022 pilot Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS).
The data was collected after a series of activities – convening the municipal CBMS Coordinating Board, training on Barangay Profile Questionnaire (BPQ) and Household Profile Questionnaire (HPQ), training on geotagging of service institutions and government projects, to data collection, map and data processing, capacity development training on data tabulation and analysis using descriptive statistics, community data validation, and data review.
“The Data Turnover Ceremony was legitimately done through the signing of the data turnover agreement on October 20, 2023, at the Barangay Affairs Center, Municipal Site, San Lorenzo, and was attended and supported by representatives from the provincial offices of the Department of Interior and Local Governance (DILG) and Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), a representative from Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO), Municipal Vice Mayor, Municipal Planning and Development Officer (MPDO), CBMS Core Team, and representatives from the municipal agencies or offices,” PSA Guimaras, Provincial Statistics Officer Nelida B. Losare said.
The data turnover agreement was administered and signed by PSA OIC-Regional Director, Ms. Nelida C. Amolar, and the Mayor Ninfa G. Gajo, with witnesses from PSA, including the CSS of the Guimaras Provincial Statistical Office and the Statistical Operations and Coordination Division RSSO VI; witnesses from the LGU include the Municipal Vice Mayor, Data Protection Officer, and designated Municipal Statistician.
The CBMS roll-out in San Lorenzo successfully covered 7,265 households, representing a population of 27,984 individuals.
PSO Losare presented the highlights of the 2022 CBMS results, providing valuable insights for the LGUs program, planning, and policy formulation. The Municipal Planning and Development Officer, Ms. Catherine Ann Gaurana, also presented the plans and programs of the municipality utilizing the CBMS data.
Officer-in-charge (OIC) Regional Director (RD) Nelida C. Amolar, PSO Losare, and SOCD Chief Marlene Y. Alviar led the ceremonial data turnover or the handling of the “key of responsibility” that symbolizes the transfer and securing of data.
The data derived from the CBMS will also serve as a crucial resource for the local government of San Lorenzo, enabling evidence-based decision-making and targeted interventions.
“With this comprehensive and reliable dataset, the LGU can now strategize and tailor programs that address the specific needs and priorities of the community,” Losare said.
