The Cignal HD Spikers got the better of the struggling Galeries Tower in four sets, 25-17, 25-17, 24-26, 25-11, in the ongoing Premier Volleyball League (PVL) All-Filipino Conference last November 7, 2023, held at the Philsports Arena.
Veteran outside hitter Ces Molina led the way for the HD Spikers and contributed 17 points built from 16 successful attacks alongside 16 digs and 11 excellent receptions.
When Cignal needed a timely conversion to halt Galeries’ run, it was Molina who stepped up for them and delivered in the bright lights.
The HD Spikers looked to wrap up the match in a sweeping fashion after pummeling Galeries in the first two sets for an early 2-0 lead.
However, the debuting franchise sparked a momentum-changing offensive run and flipped the switch in the third set to stay alive, 2-1.
Cignal was close to completing the 3-0 win after equalizing the game at 24-all, but the determined Galeries squad scored two straight markers to grab the third set.
Despite a decent start offensively for the Galeries, the veteran experience of the HD Spikers became the story of the fourth set as their well-organized scoring sets did damage midway through the frame.
Backstopping Molina during their huge win was Vanie Gandler who chipped in 14 points off 14 successful attacks.
Meanwhile, Cignal star setter Gel Cayuna delivered the goods for her squad and capped off the win with 21 excellent sets.
The HD Spikers will look to extend their winning streak to four games as they challenge the tough Petro Gazz Angels team on November 11, 2023.
