BACOLOD City – Police are looking into drunkenness as the motive behind a shooting incident that killed a 25-year-old man and wounded a teenage student in Barangay Cadiz Viejo, Cadiz City, Negros Occidental yesterday.
Authorities identified the fatality as Romel Francisco while the wounded person was Kervin Singson, 18.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Gil John Despi, city police chief, said Francisco and suspect Michael Vidal, 40, were in a drinking session when a heated argument ensued between them.
Despi said that the two then figured in a fistfight that led to a shooting incident allegedly perpetrated by Vidal.
Francisco suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was declared dead in a hospital, while Singson, who was in the area, was hit by a stray bullet in the right leg.
Despi said that Vidal is at large. He had a previous frustrated homicide case and was just released from jail, the police chief added.
