The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Civil Engineering announced that a total of 6,180 out of 18,582 examinees nationwide, or 33.27%, passed in the November 2023 Civil Engineers Licensure Examination given in eighteen (18) testing centers nationwide.
Carlos Hilado Memorial State University in Talisay City, Negros Occidental, with 91.07% passing average, ranked number 3 in the said examination for higher education institutions (HEIs)with 50 or more examinees and at least 80% passing percentage.
Western Visayas Region performed low, or with passing percentage lower than that of the national average. Five (5) schools in the region out of 17, or 29.4%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level. The Region produced 362 passers out of 1,160 takers, or 31.21% passing percentage. There were 673 first takers and 487 repeaters from the Region who took the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 40.42%. The repeaters passing percentage is 18.48%.
On the other hand, the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Medicine announced that a total of 4,083 out of 6,456 examinees nationwide, or 63.2%, passed in the October 2023 Physician Licensure Examination given in fourteen (14) testing centers nationwide.
Region VI performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Three (3) schools in Western Visayas out of 4, or 75%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level. The Region produced 250 passers out of 346 takers, or 72.25% passing percentage. There were 237 first takers and 13 repeaters from the Region who took and passed in the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 81.72%. The repeaters’ passing percentage is 23%.
The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Midwifery announced that a total of 2,800 out of 4,119 examinees nationwide, or 68%, passed in the November 2023 Licensure Examination for Midwives given in seventeen (17) testing centers nationwide.
Western Visayas performed high, or with passing percentage higher than that of the national average. Five (5) schools in Western Visayas out of 8, or 62.5%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level. The Region produced 111 passers out of 150 takers, or 74% passing percentage. There were 96 first takers and 15 repeaters from the Region who took and passed in the said examination. The first takers passing percentage is 80%. The repeaters passing percentage is 50%.
On the other hand, 716 out of 2,124 examinees nationwide, or 33.71%, passed in the Licensure Examination for Fisheries Professionals given by the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) Board of Fisheries in 16 testing centers nationwide in October 2023.
The Top performing schools in Western Visayas with at least 85% passing are UP Visayas (97.67%) and University of Antique – Tibiao Campus (87.5%).
Ten (10) out of 19 successful examinees who garnered the 10 highest places in the national level are from Western Visayas Region: eight (8) from UP-Visayas (three Rank #2, one Rank #4, two Rank #5, one Rank #8, and one Rank #10); one (1) from Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science and Technology (Rank #3); and one (1) from University of Antique-Tibiao Campus (Rank #8).
UP-Visayas is the CHED Center of Excellence (COE) in Fisheries Education in Western Visayas. And Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science and Technology (ISUFST), formerly Iloilo State College of Fisheries (ISCOF) is CHED Center of Development (COD) in Fisheries Education in Western Visayas.
Six (6) schools in the Region out of 10, or 60%, performed high or with a passing percentage higher than that of the national level. Repeaters passing percentage is 46%, while the first takers passing percentage is 63%. Eight (8) out of 10 examinees from the Region were first takers.
